Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales last week delivered a blow to an unaccountable United Nations agency by giving 11 of its foreign employees 72 hours to leave the country. In September he announced that the U.N. Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala, known by the Spanish acronym CICIG, must shut down within one year. Then he banned its top prosecutor from re-entering the country.<\/p>\n

Late Friday a Guatemalan judge granted an injunction against the expulsion. But not before Mississippi\u2019s Roger Wicker took to the U.S. Senate floor to declare that Guatemala, as a sovereign nation, has every right to expel CICIG, listing some of the commission\u2019s past abuses.<\/p>\n
