Secretary Pompeo’s Call With Guatemala President Jimmy Morales

Secretary Michael R. Pompeo called Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales today. The Secretary reiterated the United States’ support for Guatemalan sovereignty. They discussed the importance of continuing our cooperation in the fight against corruption and impunity and the Guatemalan government’s efforts working with the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG). The Secretary expressed continued support of the United States for a reformed CICIG and committed to continue working with Guatemala on implementing the reforms in the coming year.
