The Embassy of Russian Federation in Guatemala refuses to issue Russian passports to the Bitkov family
August 25, Guatemala City -Russian ambassador in Guatemala – Nikolai Babich has informed through his consul – Ivan Orlovetz, the notary of Guatemala that Bitkov family will not receive Russian passports because of the clear instructions of denial of Russian citizenship by the authorities in Moscow.
Regarding the matter, Russian consul in Guatemala also commented in a rude manner that no written confirmation will be provided and the application for issue of the passports for the family is now cancelled.
The message was received on the phone in a conversation between Russian consul and Bitkov’s lawyers.
Irina Bitkova said that she wasn’t surprised of the attitude of Russian consul in Guatemala, since it’s a well known fact that her family is persecuted politically by the Putin’s government because she has refused to become a part of president’s political party “United Russia”.
However, Russian authorities have explained that the only document with which they are willing to provide the family is a travel document, which can only serve as a one way extradition to Russia, but never will they provide Bitkovs with an international travelling passport.
“Bitkov couple have a son who was born in Guatemala, Central America, on 4th of January of 2012. He is Guatemalan by birth, had never have Russian passport and never will”.
